NOBODY EVER WANTS TO STRIKE! Management may say if you join a Union you may have to "strike" and that will cost you money because of the lost income while you are not working. Management may say you will have to eventually "strike" no matter what. So, if we must some day have to strike, that only means one thing, that management is NOT living up to their Agreement! Strikes are very rare. Yes, they do happen, but nobody ever wants a strike and the Unions will do everything possible to prevent them. Strikes are not "called" by the Union, but rather the workers. It is the actual workers who VOTE for a strike or not. Only if the majority of the workers vote for a strike will the Union ever support one. If a strike ever occurred, think about it, how long would they keep their casino shut down? A few hours maybe? This is one of the real main reasons why they never want us to join a Union, because we would be to strong for them. If the Dealers were to join a union, who would they use to replace Union members who have went on strike? Members like the Culinary? We are their "backup plan" in case the Culinary ever does strike at Caesars Palace again. If the Dealers were ever to call a strike, who would be able to come in and replace us? Can a porter deal? If every Dealer in Las Vegas is eventually in the Union (which if we organize, it will be a "domino effect" and so will the rest of the town), other Dealers will not be available to replace us either! The casino is their bread-and-butter. If the casino shuts down, they are in real trouble. THAT is why they do not want us organizing. Management will do whatever it takes to prevent a Dealer's strike. It would cost them their business if we ever did. We would be the strongest work force in the industry! We would NEVER have to strike! But, if we ever did, it would last no more than a few hours before they would come to agreement. That is how strong we can be!
